Circulatory Physiology
Contents Design of the Experiment I

The rate of circulation can be affected by external conditions such as exercise or other activities that affect metabolism, and the efficiency of the circulatory system is often related to the health of the individual.

In your laboratory you will do five different tests of cardiovascular fitness and assign fitness points based on the results of each test. In general, in a fit individual pulse and blood pressure are lower and will return more quickly to the resting condition after exercise than in a less fit individual. Among your classmates, you can expect distance runners and swimmers, for instance, to show a high degree of cardiovascular fitness.
